GST Marches for Life
GST students, faculty, and staff made the pilgrimage to Washington DC to participate in the annual National March for Life on January 23, 2012, to protest the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion. An estimated 54 million unborn children have been killed since the 1973 Supreme Court ruling.
MSNBC.com reported that "more than 100,000 were expected to attend", and called the March "the largest and longest-running peaceful human rights demonstration for the unborn." GST was blessed to be among the supporters in this year's March for Life. Though there was rain during the event, the event was marked by a spirit of joyful witness to the dignity of human life, as well as hope about the future concerning the cause for Life.
And the tide may be turning. "In 2009, a Gallup poll marked the first year that a slight majority of the adult population opposed legal abortion in most cases, and judging by the sea of high school and college students at this years march, the young account for much of this steady shift," according to the National Catholic Register.
GST is looking forward to participating in the next annual rally in DC, which will be the 40th March for Life, on Friday, January 25, 2013.

GST welcomed the New Dean at a special gathering on Sunday, November 6th, 2011.
Guests, alumni, current students, faculty, and friends of the Graduate School of Theology and Program of Catholic Studies gathered in the Eakins Room to formally welcome Dr. Kelly Bowring to St. Charles. Beautiful music, wine/cheese and great food, engaging speakers, and fellowship made it a successful afternoon event. Many thanks to all who could attend.
